Being a Blessing Blesses Us

When God lays it on our heart to help someone, we don’t have to know the circumstances, all we have to do is be willing vessels and He will do the rest. We never know what a person is going through, and just by taking the time to care, could be the very thing that gives them the courage to fight another day.

Depression is a terrible thing to go through, and going through it alone can be a matter of life and death. It takes you down a deep, dark hole where you can no longer see daylight; and once there all hope and purpose begin to fade. Some will cry out for help, but many will simply give up, and decide being here is just not worth it.

The important thing to always remember is the sun WILL shine again. Over these last, 1,430 days my Angel has experienced many, many dark days, and on numerous days I have heard those words that simply break my heart, “I don’t want to do this anymore.” That is why I am here; that is my calling; to be here to encourage her to keep fighting. Because, when the effects of chemo have her lying in bed, and it hurts to even move; or the when the pain caused from the tumors are so intense she just doesn’t want to hurt anymore. This is where I have to help her fight through those awful moments, because I know this is not how her story is going to end.

Jesus said in Luke 9:23, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” It simply can’t always be about us. To put others needs above our own, is what we are here for; to help those who can’t help themselves. Simply be a blessing to someone each and every day. You don’t have to know someone personally who is hurting; simply make yourself available, and ask God to put someone in your path. I can assure you there are people all around us, on any given day, who are struggling. One thing I have learned is, I am never happier than when I am helping others. Why? Because when we are doing the will of our Father, we are fulfilling our purpose for being here. That is why in Acts 20:35 Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” I don’t know about you, but if Jesus said it, that is good enough reason for me.

From my heart to yours!
